A little too much is certainly better than completely nonexistent in this case ;)Castorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15317266954630009383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-25830349997431514342011-04-04T11:55:59.084-07:002011-04-04T11:55:59.084-07:00@Castor-Oh not the fuckin' Notebook. At least Atonement knew to restrain itself.

The Notebook fucking sucked. I quote Ryan Reynolds... "this is so gay".thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-79789201103774045002011-04-04T11:27:48.138-07:002011-04-04T11:27:48.138-07:00Yes, I think it would have been so much more effec...Yes, I think it would have been so much more effective if they had put more effort into the romance.

Talk all you want about a movie like The Notebook but the central romance is really well built up and if Atonement had done something remotely similar, I probably would have been weeping like a little girl at the end ahahCastorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15317266954630009383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-724828250453608192011-04-03T19:43:00.018-07:002011-04-03T19:43:00.018-07:00@Castor-I will admit that I wished there was more ...@Castor-I will admit that I wished there was more story to the romance. Since it was told mostly through the perspective of Briony, it was a very different film. I think visually, it has the epic feel but it's not a true epic.

I understand your qualms about the film and I do wish there was more about that love story. Yet, I think it paid off with the ending.thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-49822824122206433562011-04-03T17:13:48.526-07:002011-04-03T17:13:48.526-07:00Not nearly as emotionally wrenching as I thought i...Not nearly as emotionally wrenching as I thought it would be. The movie tries so hard to make us believe there is an epic love story between Cecilia and Robbie, yet the central romance is barely built up if at all. This really blunted the emotional impact of the movie for me.Castorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15317266954630009383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-28124396086877598732011-04-02T22:35:14.912-07:002011-04-02T22:35:14.912-07:00It is indeed a top quality film. I just want to see with what he can do in Hanna.

Thanks for the comment.thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-25967018689624637862011-04-02T20:06:10.616-07:002011-04-02T20:06:10.616-07:00A top quality film, technically excellent in terms...A top quality film, technically excellent in terms of production, cinematography, the score and a decent cast of actors. I'm not overly keen on dramas and at times this does feel a bit slow. However the ending was a real surprise and made it a classic tale of love, or be it a sad one. Good Review!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
