It is low on the Kubrick list for me but I seem to be in the minority on that. I got the commentary that Kubrick was going for but I just found the film to be so dull. I found the supporting characters to be far more interesting than the leads.Courtney Smallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00045575858464121137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-81170972497517610342012-05-31T12:01:42.007-07:002012-05-31T12:01:42.007-07:00@Filmmaster-See it now!!!@Filmmaster-See it now!!!thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-444715315879412942012-05-30T23:45:46.417-07:002012-05-30T23:45:46.417-07:00Good review. I was thinking of that ...@David-I did notice that. I was thinking of that scene when I was watching Paths of Glory. It's a great scene because it reveals that these men who are supposed to be the ones responsible for the lives of soldiers in the heat of battle aren't very honorable. They only care about victory at any cost just so they can advance themselves into some form of respectability. It's disgusting.

@Alex-Kirk Douglas made the film for me. The man really gave a performance that is one for the ages. That penultimate scene with General Broulard that includes that famous Kubrick stare is just fantastic. It's because Dax represents the man we want to lead us. The one who will make sure things will be OK and isn't bullshitting you. That's why we need more films like this instead of bullshit propaganda like Battleship.thevoid99https://www.blogger.com/profile/03055459287396592446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21463545.post-82736034977511915632012-05-29T13:12:03.776-07:002012-05-29T13:12:03.776-07:00Ah I love this movie, it's so goddamn maddenin...Ah I love this movie, it's so goddamn maddening in the ass backwards bureaucracy it depicts. Kirk Douglas is definitely superb here. It may be my favorite performance of his.
