Hello bloggers, the only news I need to share is that I've created another blog that is called The Void-Go-Round (a tribute of sorts to the old Disc-Go-Round record store that I hung out at from 2000-2006 in Smyrna) which will be a place where I will have my old music reviews be posted as well as new reviews that will relate to music. Also in that blog will be a project that is in the works called 1991-20.
1991-20 is a celebration of what I believe was to be one of the last great years in rock music. It was the year alternative music finally broke out of the underground and Nirvana arrived to get rid of the hair bands. It was the year of shoegaze and a year that saw a lot of albums. I will make a countdown of sorts of the 25 greatest albums of that year where each album will be profiled in essays.
That's the only news I'm going to announce as I'm still working on other film-related projects at the moment.
Meanwhile, there are some blogs that I really want readers to check out on.
The Way Back by Peter Weir has definitely been popping up lately in blogosphere that I've wanted to profile reviews of that film by my fellow bloggers. James from Cinema Sights, Sasha of The Final Girl Project, Luke at Anomalous Material, Blake from Bitchin Film Reviews, and Dan at Dan the Man's Movie Reviews. In my opinion, this film needs more attention and love.
Edgar of Between the Seats has a very interesting marathon going about old-school noir films as his review of Nicholas Ray's On Dangerous Ground is an enjoyable read.
Andrew of Anomalous Material has a wonderful review of Mike Leigh's Another Year that exemplifies why the film should be seen.
Finally, there's Cinema Du Meep that is having a series of pieces on Blaxploitation. A wonderful genre that also featured one of my favorites, Pam Grier. Plus, there's a great review of one of my all-time favorite films by John Waters, Serial Mom.
Well, that is all for now. Please check out my other new blog as it's just starting out at the moment. Thank you.
