The 10 Best Superhero Movies of All-Time Blog Relay

Since superheroes are the thing that puts asses in the seat for people to see in the big screen. Bubbawheat of Flights, Tights, and Movie Nights presented a blog relay that goes from one blogger to another as Alex of And So It Begins... has passed the baton to me. Here are the rules:

1. The list of movies will be passed to another blogger who will post their list within a week.

2. The blogger will take their list, remove 3 movies – with explanations, and replace with 3 new movies – with explanations.

3. If a movie lasts five rounds without being removed, it becomes locked in; it is permanent and can no longer be removed from the list.

4. If a movie is removed three different times, it is locked out and can no longer be put back onto the list by someone else.

5. Once four movies are locked into place, bloggers will replace 2 movies.

6. Once eight movies are locked into place, bloggers will replace 1 movie.

7. Once all ten movies are locked into place, the relay will be complete.

Alrighty then. Here are the Eight Films Locked in From the Relay So Far:

The Avengers

Blade II

The Dark Knight

The Incredibles

Iron Man

The Rocketeer

Spider-Man 2

Unbreakable

Here are the four films that are still on board for the final two spots:

Batman Begins

The Crow

Guardians of the Galaxy

X2: X-Men United

What Goes Out: The Crow

I haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy so it would be unfair if I take it out unless someone who has seen it has a reason why it shouldn’t be on the list. I like The Crow as it’s a film I saw in my teenage years and I would see it every once in a while. I like the look of it and it’s premise. I also enjoy the performances from the late Brandon Lee as well as Michael Wincott and Ernie Hudson. I love the soundtrack which I still have. It just that it never really clicked with me as one of the best superhero films.

What Goes In: Superman

This is a film I grew up watching as a kid and I never get tired of it. For me, this is where the modern superhero film really begins as it had this great origin story as well as a sense of idealism that is still relevant (except for the American way idea). Plus, how can anyone not love Christopher Reeve as Superman? He had the look of it while he was also a great Clark Kent. Adding to that equation in its greatness is Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor.

Who I’m Passing the Baton to: Dan of Public Transportation Snob since I like to know what he thinks as he had recently done a marathon of superhero films.

Nice, glad to see Superman make it back in even though it keeps popping in and out. Also glad to see X2 make it to #9 on the list. I do feel a little bit bad for those coming into this relay towards the end since there's not that much to play with, but I'm glad it does have a definitive end to it. Thanks for joining in!

Thank you. I'm glad that Superman is still in there. I hope someone gives it a fitting end.

It's funny. I was just reading this casually and then realized I was tagged. I'm on it! It may take a little bit for me to get the post together, though. I also would have removed The Crow. I liked it when it came out, but it hasn't aged well. Superman is a great choice!

Hate to see The Crow get put out, especially this late in the game. However, I am glad to see the right Superman movie get back in. Nice.

I really hope that Guardians gets locked!

Yeah I agree I never saw it as a superhero movie either. It was just a cool comic book movie. Glad to have the real man of steel on the list.

@Dan-I had to go for Superman. Superman is awesome.

@Wendell Ottley-There's only Superman and it's Christopher Reeve.

@Fisti-Me too even though I haven't seen it.

@TheVern-I like The Crow but I think that is why I took out of the list. It's not a superhero film. Plus, let's not mention those awful sequels.

A very fair swap indeed. I debated taking The Crow out, and I think you justified doing so very well.

@Alex Withrow-It wasn't easy but I just went with what I felt and what I loved. After all, Superman needs to be in the list.

No worries, as long as you're interested in joining you're welcome to have more time than the one week guideline if you need it.
