The "Unofficial" Films of 2016 (Take One)

2016 is over and 2017 has begun although it has been a very lackluster year for me personally as I didn't get to see a lot of films this year as many of them came and went. Here are several films of 2016 that I hope to see: Elle, La La Land, Jackie, Rogue One, Moonlight, Kubo and the Two Strings, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Things to Come, Endless Poetry, Voyage of Time, Train to Busan, The Red Turtle, Paterson, Julieta, Gimme Danger, American Honey, Certain Women, 20th Century Women, A Monster Calls, One More Time with Feeling, The Handmaiden, The Salesman, Loving, Hell or High Water, Toni Erdmann, Captain Fantastic, Personal Shopper, Green Room, I, Daniel Blake, Lovesong, Finding Dory, Moana, It's Only the End of the World, and Swiss Army Man. Here are the best films of 2016 that I've seen so far....

1. The Neon Demon

2. Nocturnal Animals

3. Love and Friendship

4. 13th

5. Arrival

6. Manchester by the Sea

7. Midnight Special

8. Everybody Want Some!!

9. O.J.: Made in America

10. Hail, Caesar!

11. Captain America: Civil War

12. Deadpool

13. Doctor Strange

14. Before the Flood

Best Short/Ads: Kenzo World/My Mutant Brain & Team Thor. Honorable Mentions: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Swap, & Eddie the Eagle. Worst Film of 2016 (so far): The 5th Wave.

That's a nice list. Glad to see Arrival show well.

I need to finish the O.J. doc and watch 13th.

Of the ones I've seen I really enjoyed them all except Everybody Wants Some!!.

I love seeing Love & Friendship so high. It's one I just couldn't keep out of my Top 10. Also glad to see Midnight Special on there. It to made my list and it's a film that seems widely forgotten. Big fan of it.

Great stuff! We match up on quite a few. The Neon Demon didn't quite work for me as much as you, but I really dug it.

@Wendell-I can understand why Everybody Want Some!! isn't for you as Richard Linklater isn't for everyone. I really hope you see 13th.

@keith71_98-Love & Friendship definitely stuck around for the long run as it was just so fun to watch as is Midnight Special.

@Kevin-I'm glad someone else here likes The Neon Demon as it is a polarizing film but a damn good one.

Watched 13th last night. The part that most blew me away was the admission from the Nixon folks. Sadly confirms so many things. Great, great doc.

@Wendell-That was shocking but not entirely surprised since Nixon was a prejudiced son-of-a-bitch. If you have a review in the works, I can't wait to read it.

Hell yeah, I love seeing The Neon Demon at number one here. That flick was so goddamn crazy, but so good.

@Alex-I love anything that is willing to be nuts and confrontational. No matter how fucked up it is. I'm not sure if it will change this coming weekend but it is a very important film.
