2019 Blind Spot Series Announcement

2018 is about to come to a close as I now have one more film in this year's Blind Spot Series as it will be Satyajit Ray's The Hero. Now the time has come to look what will be set for next year's Blind Spot Series. Coming up with a list for every Blind Spot Series has gotten harder as I decided that the 2019 series will not include any trilogies or film series this time around as it has gotten overwhelming. Instead, I went to films that I had wanted to see for a long time but also films that are considered classics. This meant having to go to films that I'm sure many have seen but I haven't and that I've resisted for a long time. Some of my choices had me to go my copy of 1001 Films to See Before You Die while others is a need to list films that are diverse and made by different people from different countries. 2 of these films are from the 21st Century while 3 of them are documentaries. Here are the films of the 2019 Blind Spot Series that I will watch in chronological order:

Gone with the Wind

Gilda

All About Eve

Marketa Lazarova

Weekend

In the Realm of the Senses

Shoah

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters

My Neighbor Totoro

To Sleep with Anger

The Gleaners and I

This is Not a Film

  2. Great picks. My Neighbor Totoro is a sweet animation and I guess something to watch to recover from the horrors of Shoah. I'm surprised you haven't seen Gone with the Wind-better late than never!

  3. @Brittani-Nice. I'll admit to be apprehensive about Gone with the Wind as I've seen clips of it but not the whole thing.

@Chris-I wanted to do more films of Studio Ghibli and other things plus I wanted to avoid film series for a while though there's a few that I have to finish which I hope to do next year.

  4. Great picks. Very interested to read your thoughts on Shoah. I've made it through the whole thing once, and I believe that was enough. It's really quite an achievement.

  5. @Alex Withrow-I have more than half of my Blind Spots picked up and ready to go for the next year as Shoah is something I purchased recently from the Barnes & Noble Criterion sale as that is a big film I'm hoping to tackle as I know it's going to take a while to recover.

  7. @vinnie-You have nothing to apologize for. We're all busy. Some of us here have a life outside of blogging. I haven't been posting as much lately due to the fact that I'm helping my mother take care of a friend's dog.
